About Kris

Virginia Based Blogger & East Coast Creative

Hi there! I’m Kris, an outdoor creator based in the Washington DC Metro Area (Northern Virginia). I’m passionate about the great outdoors and enjoy sharing unique and adventurous travel itineraries focused around hiking and outdoor adventures. You’ll find that every piece of my content incorporates responsible recreation andgood stewardship. After all, it is our responsibility to protect and preserve our natural spaces! I believe there is beauty to be found everywhere, and I’ve made it my mission to find it in the most unexpected places. My guides and itineraries include eccentric experiences, hidden gems, and some of the U.S.’s most underrated road trip destinations. My love for my home state of Virginia is the pinnacle of my work, and Shenandoah National Park holds a particularly special place in my heart. I’ve spent years exploring, state parks, breweries, museums, public trails, rivers, and beaches. It may come as no surprise that I’m committed to helping others discover why Virginia is for Lovers! I also do a fair amount of traveling outside of Virginia, having worked with West Virginia Tourism, Visit Maine, and Lake of the Ozarks CVB to name a few. From these trips, I create detailed travel itineraries and hiking guides that serve as great resources for trip planning throughout the East Coast and beyond! Thanks so much for being here and supporting my little corner of the internet. See you on the trails ✌🏼

Kris’s Favorite Hiking Trail

Old Rag Mountain

Considered the most popular — and arguably the most difficult — trail in Shenandoah National Park, is the hike to the top of Old Rag Mountain. Featuring challenging sections with rock scrambles and exposed rocks, as well as a large elevation gain, the 360-degree panoramic view at the top is well worth the effort! Note: Hiking shoes with good grip, lots of water, plenty of snacks, and sunscreen are recommended. Check out my list of my top 10 hiking essentials for more!
